You Confirm You're a Registered Company
Receive Payments is for registered businesses only. By using it, you confirm your business is properly registered and that the details you've given us are accurate. If that changes, or turns out not to be accurate, we can suspend the account.
You're Responsible for What You're Paid For
Otority processes the payment. You're responsible for the underlying service, product, or work it's for, and for resolving any issue your client raises about it. Otority isn't in a position to judge whether work was delivered as agreed, that's between you and your client.
Chargebacks and Disputes
If a client disputes a payment and their card issuer reverses it, what you owe depends on whether the funds had already been paid out to you.
If the payment hasn't been released to you yet: it won't be. On top of that, you're charged a dispute fee equal to 8% of the disputed amount, deducted from your Otority balance or a future payment, to cover the cost of handling the dispute.
If the payment has already been paid out to you: you're responsible for the full amount, not just the 8% fee, since Stripe reverses the entire charge from Otority. We'll recover it from your Otority balance, from future payments due to you, or, where that's not enough, by other lawful means, including legal action if necessary.
Either way, the loss from a dispute sits with you, not with Otority, since you're the one who was paid for the work in question. We'll work with you on genuine disputes where we can, but the underlying loss isn't Otority's to carry.
Repeated Disputes
An unusually high rate of disputes or chargebacks may lead to a reserve being held against future payouts, tighter payout terms, or account suspension while we look into what's happening.
Otority is a brand of Digitalzooks LLC, a US registered entity.
