Bank Transfer via ACH

Both bank transfer and card payments on Otority are processed through Stripe. Bank transfer specifically uses Stripe's ACH network, and it's currently available to US business bank accounts by request.

Why it's business accounts only, for now

ACH treats business and personal accounts differently. A business account gets a 2-business-day window to dispute a payment as unauthorized. A personal account gets 60 days. That difference is why we verify the account type before turning this on, not because we don't trust individual payers, but because a personal account carries a materially longer exposure window that changes how quickly funds can safely move.

How long it takes

Bank transfer runs through Stripe's ACH network, which settles in 4–5 business days, plus our own review before funds are released, typically another 3–5 business days. All in, expect 7–10 business days from when you send a bank transfer payment to when it reaches the contractor, employee, or service provider.

If someone needs to be paid by a specific date, send the payment 7–10 business days ahead of time, the same way you'd plan any other payroll date. Card payments don't need this lead time, funds move in a fraction of the time, which is why most businesses use card for anything time-sensitive and save bank transfer for payments where the lower fee matters more than the timing.

If a bank transfer payment fails halfway through, we'll notify you and the recipient as soon as we know.

Minimum payment amount

Bank transfer is available for payments of $1,000 or more. For anything below that, card is the only option.
